The 2017 PGA Tour Championship has returned to Atlanta, and this event has several hospitality options that you’ll love–even if you aren’t a huge fan of golf. From September 18th until the 24th, you can enjoy the full fan experience. I was able to get a preview of what’s in store for attendees. Yes, I took on the difficult task of sampling signature cocktails, wine, and food so that I could let you know what you have to look forward to at the tour. That’s the kind of sacrifice I make for you all.
Atlanta’s hometown rapper, Ludacris, kicked off the event with a special performance at the College Football Hall of Fame on Monday. Naturally, he opened the show with a rendition of “Welcome to Atlanta” to get the crowd of both visitors and residents excited. Radio host Ryan Cameron of V-103 introduced golfers Matt Kuchar, Jon Rahm, Patrick Reed, Daniel Berger, Pat Perez and Brian Harman to the audience which highlighted the exciting collaboration between music and sports.
The crowd was ready to “Roll Out” (to use the name of one of Luda’s hit songs) to the PGA Tour after the concert. So let’s head to the East Lake Golf Club, and I’ll show you a bit of what awaits you there!
I’m starting with the cocktails ’cause that’s what I like, that’s what I like *Bruno Mars voice*
Grey Goose returns as Official Spirit of the PGA Tour. Whose got spirit? Grey Goose does. And they’re sharing that spirit in some refreshing cocktails made exclusively for this special event.
The Shamrock is Grey Goose Cherry Noir, Simply Lemonade, and Sprite Cherry.
If that doesn’t sound appealing to you, the bartenders will be happy to whip you up something you’ll cheer about.
I’ve always wanted to visit Napa and go on a wine tour. But Napa Valley came to me by way of William Hill Estate Winery! I sampled the Cabernet Sauvignon, one of my favorite wines. I continued the trend I started with The Shamrock cocktail, as I tasted hints of black cherry in this wine. William Hill Estate Winery will be pouring a wonderful selection of wine all weekend, so be sure to stop by their station.
While the focus of the fan experience is to have tons of fun, the PGA Tour is also offering ways to keep you healthy.
MD Anderson Cancer Center is giving out free SPF 50 sunscreen, free UV-protection sunglasses, and SPF 30 lip balms so you can stay safe while you soak up the sun. You can also watch the tournament from shaded public bleachers (on Nos. 15 and 18 greens).
MD Anderson Cancer Center will also provide skin cancer screenings for all spectators. Even better, they’re offering this for FREE! An appointment is not necessary, so you can stop by at any time. It’ll only take about 10 minutes, and it’s totally worth stepping away from the bar for, right? Make sure you swing by the MD Anderson Cancer Center Shade Station in the SO Cool Zone!
Since you’ll be in the SO Cool Zone, why not grab a bite to eat at Atlanta’s fave Fox Bros. BBQ? They’re serving up goodies like Frito Pie and this Pulled Pork Sandwich.
At Peachtree Porch (overlooking the 8th green and 9th tee), food offerings include:
- Steinbeck’s Bar (ah-mazing burgers)
- Big Tex (grab one of Parker’s Chicken Sandwiches)
- Ceviche Taqueria (serving ceviche, of course, along with beef and chicken tacos)
And another Atlanta institution, Henri’s Bakery, will be located on the 1st tee. Here, you can get super cute and tasty Shamrock Cookies along with some of their famous sandwiches. Hello Turkey Po’boy!
If you’d like to grab a bite to eat before or after you attend the tournament, stop by Universal Joint for delightful menu items like Spicy Chicken Egg Rolls or Tater Tots served with Queso.
Some of you may be thinking, “Yeah, this all sounds really cool. But it’s football season, and I can’t miss the games!” Wait! The PGA Tour has you covered! There will be TVs showing the games, so you can still cheer on your team.
Seriously, the PGA tour has it all! Can you think of a better way to spend your weekend? I’ll wait…
Of course not! So check it out, whether or not you know who Jordan Spieth is. Each day, the first 2,000 fans will receive a free Jordan Spieth Coca-Cola bobblehead, if you need another incentive to go.
When your friends who missed out on this see all the fun you had, they’re sure to be green with envy (I just had to include a golf pun). Hope to see you there! Yep, I’m definitely going back for fore–I mean, more (sneaking in one more golf funny).
