Spotlite: Amalfi Pizza

Amalfi Pizza

You may remember in my post about my visit to Red Phone Booth, I mentioned that we were served food from Amalfi Pizza. The upstairs neighbor to my new favorite spot in Atlanta was worthy of special visit on its own. Let’s just say that I’m glad both of my new fave Atlanta establishments are in the same location because that’s going to make things super convenient for me. Wanna find out about my first visit to Amalfi Pizza? Keep reading!

For our appetizer, we decided on the Calamari Fritti. These corn-dusted rings of deliciousness were addicting. I would’ve devoured the crumbs on the plate as well if I wasn’t concerned with embarrassing myself.

We also tried the Mussels Bianco. Honestly, I ate 99% of the mussels by myself, but I’m not embarrassed by that. The sauce on these lil guys was perfection.

Mussels Bianco: Steamed P.E.I. mussels served in a white wine, garlic and butter sauce with grilled ciabatta bread

I have to admit, I’m not a huge fan of Marsala cream sauce. Let’s just say I’ve had a few bad run-ins in the past. But the Rigatoni Di Napoli was my friend’s entree choice for the evening, and I didn’t want to be a diva and demand another pasta. I’m so thankful that I didn’t protest because this dish was the highlight of the night! The noodles were cooked perfectly and the Marsala sauce made my tastebuds dance.

I’ve had the pizza here before (the first time was during my first visit to Red Phone Booth), but that didn’t make noshing on this traditional-style pie any less magical. We decided to try the house specialty Pizza Amalfi, Carnevale style. I was a bit worried that the spicy ingredients would be overpowering. But I’ve learned at this point that the folks at Amalfi Pizza know what they’re doing. They’ve got the best pizzas in Atlanta coming out of those 900 degree ovens!

Pizza Amalfi: Hand crushed San Marzano tomato sauce, spicy sausage, peppadew peppers, caramelized onion, house-made bacon jam, topped with fior di latte mozzarella

Speaking of 900 degree ovens, I got a behind-the-scenes look at the pizza making process. These imported ovens cook pizzas in a jiffy, which is much-needed given the number of pies this restaurant cranks out on a daily basis.

I also got a look at the fresh ingredients the restaurant uses to create their pizzas. The owners have traveled to Italy numerous times in order to ensure they stay true to the pizza-making process, and it shows!

We ended our meal on a high note with these delightful desserts.

Our dining experience at Amalfi Pizza was an absolute treat. Not only was every dish we tried delicious and well-executed, the service we received was top-notch from beginning to end. This restaurant is one you must visit. Enjoy the taste of Italy, right here in the ATL!
