Microblading: A Love Story

Microblading has become one of the hottest trends in the world of beauty. And now that I’ve had it done myself, I can totally see why. You may be wondering, what is microblading? Lemme break it down for ya. Microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo for your eyebrows. Using superfine needles, semi-permanent ink is deposited into your skin to create small, hairlike strokes to fill in gaps in your brows and make your brows appear fuller…on fleek, as the kids say. Because the needles only reach the upper layers of your skin, the process isn’t permanent. The ink is formulated to fade over time, so you’ll have to get touchups at least once a year. It’s also not as painful as a traditional tattoo.

So why am I calling this a love story? It’s because the end results are ah-mazing! I can’t lie, I was a bit nervous going into this process. But I knew I was in good hands with Tricia (who’s beautifying faces over at The Tattoo Dojo), and she made me feel relaxed during the entire process. Speaking of the process, I’m sharing my experience here!

*Before*

First (after saying a quick prayer in my head), Tricia drew out an outline of my brows to ensure she stayed within just the right area once she began working.

Then, numbing cream was applied, and I waited about 20 minutes for it to kick in.

During that time, we also chose the right pigment colors.

Next, Tricia began filling in my brows. This wasn’t painful, but the small scrapes to my skin felt a bit odd since it’s not a sensation I was used to feeling.

Done! Just kidding…this is extra ink applied during the process.

A bit more numbing cream was applied, but I only had to wait a few minutes this time around.

The finishing touches were done, and so were we!! Here are the results after my first visit. LOOOOOOVE!!!

Here’s a pic of my eyebrows two weeks after my initial session.

Part of the process requires you to return for a touch up. If you followed the instructions you’re given after your initial session, your brows should be healing quite nicely. You may also get some shading done to enhance the overall look.

Check out this comparison of how my brows looked before, after the initial healing, and after my touch up.

Once I’m fully healed, I’ll post another photo here so be sure to check back in a couple of weeks!

If you really want to wake up like this, I highly recommend microblading. And if you’re in Atlanta, I highly recommend seeing Tricia at The Tattoo Dojo! Tell her Candyce sent ya!!
