I’ve been visiting the Swan Coach House for a few years now after my dear friend, Nikka, introduced me to it during her annual Little Blue Box Brunch. Which reminds me…this year’s brunch is coming up next week, and I’m so excited to attend! Anyway, after I attended Nikka’s fabulous event, she told me that the Swan Coach House also hosts an afternoon tea several times a year. I enjoyed the first afternoon tea so much, I make it a point to attend with Nikka and our girl squad whenever I can. Fortunately, we were able to return for the Spring Tea on April 20th and it was another lovely afternoon of sips, savories, and sweets.
Typically, the Swan Coach House’s Afternoon Teas are held on Thursdays from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM. The decor is simply delightful! After you’ve clawed your way through the Atlanta rush hour traffic, you’ll feel as though you’ve been transported to another world. The Southern charm is evident in every detail from the decor to the place settings.
Upon arrival, there’s a preset on the table that consists of items like scones, crackers with cheese, and their signature Cheese Straws (bet you can’t eat just one).
The savory items are tailored for the current season–think something pumpkin-based for the fall. We enjoyed mini sandwiches made of chicken salad or pimento cheese, and tiny ham biscuits (my personal favorite).
Like the savories, the desserts are also chosen based on the season and occasion. This time, I only had one of the Lemon Rosemary Cupcakes. But you have to try one of the famous French Silk Swans at least once. It’s only right…
Of course, tea is served throughout the afternoon. But often, you are given the option to enjoy bottomless champagne (which I always take).
If you’re interested in visiting during the Afternoon Tea series, I’d recommend following the Swan Coach House on Facebook.
